2-Day Nature Itinerary in Jirang, June 2024

  1. Day 1: Hwaeomsa Temple
    40 minutes (25 miles) from Jirang Station

    In the morning, take a peaceful stroll through the serene Hwaeomsa Temple, one of South Korea's most beautiful temples. The temple is known for its stunning natural surroundings, with beautiful trees and flowers blooming throughout the grounds. After lunch, take a hike up to the nearby Jusanji Pond, which is known for its crystal-clear water and beautiful scenery. In the evening, enjoy an authentic Korean meal at one of the many restaurants in the area.

  2. Day 2: Naejangsan National Park
    1 hour 20 minutes (42 miles) from Hwaeomsa Temple

    In the morning, head to Naejangsan National Park, known for its stunning waterfalls and vibrant autumn foliage. Take a hike to the top of the mountain for breathtaking views of the surrounding area. After lunch, visit the Baemsagol Valley, which is home to a beautiful stream and a number of unique rock formations. In the evening, relax at one of the nearby hot springs and enjoy a traditional Korean spa experience.

If you have extra time, consider visiting the nearby Jeonju Hanok Village, where you can experience traditional Korean culture in a historic setting. Another great side trip is the Jinan-gun Five-Day Market, which is the largest traditional market in the Jeolla province. To maximize your fun, consider taking a guided hiking tour in Naejangsan National Park, which will allow you to learn more about the local flora and fauna. Finally, be sure to sample some of the local cuisine, such as bibimbap or maeuntang.
