Vizag Nature Tour - June 2023

  1. Day 1: Kambalakonda Wildlife Sanctuary
    30 minutes (5.3 miles) from Vizag Beach

    Morning: Enjoy a guided tour to witness the wildlife and rich biodiversity of this protected reserve. The sanctuary houses various rare and endemic plant species, including medicinal plants, and a diverse range of fauna such as leopards, barking deer, and Indian civet cats.

    Afternoon: Take a nature walk to explore the hidden trails and trek to the hilltop for an aerial view of the sanctuary. You can also enjoy a picnic by the waterfall or a coracle ride in the lake.

    Evening: Head to the nearby Kailasagiri Hill Park to watch the sunset and enjoy a panoramic view of the city and the coastline. The park has various attractions, including a ropeway, a floral clock, and a giant statue of Lord Shiva.

  2. Day 2: Borra Caves
    1 hour 20 minutes (35.4 miles) from Kambalakonda Wildlife Sanctuary

    Morning: Explore the magnificent Borra Caves, known for their unique limestone and karst formations, and the only caves in India to have stalactites and stalagmites. The caves have various chambers, each with its own unique formation, including the famous 'Shiva-Parvathi' formations. You can also spot various species of bats and insects inside the caves.

    Afternoon: Head to the nearby Katiki Waterfalls, a scenic waterfall located amidst the lush greenery of the Eastern Ghats. You can enjoy a refreshing dip in the natural pool and take a short trek to explore the surroundings.

    Evening: Drive back to Vizag and relax at the beach, watch the sunset and enjoy some delicious seafood at one of the many beachside shacks.

If you have time, you can also consider visiting the Simhachalam Temple, a famous pilgrimage site for Lord Narasimha devotees, or the Indira Gandhi Zoological Park, which houses various rare and exotic animal species.

If you're looking for a side trip, you can consider visiting Araku Valley, a scenic hill station located 115 km from Vizag, known for its coffee plantations, waterfalls and tribal villages. You can take a scenic train ride from Vizag to Araku to enjoy the breathtaking views of the Eastern Ghats.
