7-Day Itinerary for Rishikesh, Haridwar, Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath in May 2024

  1. Day 1: Rishikesh
    15 minutes (6.5 km) from Haridwar

    Start your day with a yoga class at one of the many ashrams in Rishikesh. Afterward, visit the Beatles Ashram where the famous band once stayed and painted. End your day with a sunset visit to Triveni Ghat to witness the evening aarti.

  2. Day 2: Haridwar
    2 hours 30 minutes (85 km) from Rishikesh

    Start your day with a morning dip in the holy Ganges river at Har Ki Pauri. Afterward, visit Mansa Devi Temple, Chandi Devi Temple, and Maya Devi Temple. End your day with the evening aarti at Har Ki Pauri.

  3. Day 3: Yamunotri
    10 hours (225 km) from Haridwar

    Start your day with an early morning drive to Janki Chatti. From there, trek 6 km to Yamunotri Temple, the source of the Yamuna River. Enjoy the hot springs at Yamunotri and trek back to Janki Chatti.

  4. Day 4: Gangotri

    Start your day with a drive to Gangotri and visit Gangotri Temple, the source of the Ganges River. Afterward, visit the picturesque Bhagirathi Shila and Pandava Gufa. End your day with a visit to the Gangotri Glacier.

  5. Day 5: Kedarnath

    Start your day with a drive to Gaurikund and trek 16 km to Kedarnath Temple. The trek is steep but offers stunning views of the Himalayas. Visit the temple and enjoy the serene beauty of the surrounding mountains.

  6. Day 6: Badrinath
    9 hours (240 km) from Kedarnath

    Start your day with a drive to Badrinath and visit Badrinath Temple, one of the most important pilgrimage sites in India. Afterward, visit Mana Village, the last village on the Indian-Tibetan border. End your day with a visit to the beautiful Vasudhara Falls.

  7. Day 7: Departure
    10 hours (320 km) from Badrinath to Delhi Airport

    Say goodbye to the stunning Himalayas and depart for Delhi Airport for your flight home.

Consider visiting the Haridwar Kumbh Mela, one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, which takes place every 12 years (next one in 2022).
