Two Days of Cultural Immersion in Jaipur - July 2023

  1. Day 1: Amer Fort
30 minutes (7.5 miles) from Jaipur

Built-in 1592, Amer Fort is a remarkable blend of Hindu and Mughal architecture. We recommend getting there early to beat the crowds and catch the stunning sunrise view of the fort. Spend the morning exploring the intricate carvings and paintings of the fort's rooms and courtyards. After lunch, head to the nearby Anokhi Museum of Hand Printing to witness the traditional Indian art of block printing. In the evening, experience the local culture at the Chokhi Dhani Village, where you can enjoy traditional music, dance, and food.

  2. Day 2: City Palace and Jantar Mantar
20 minutes (5 miles) from Amer Fort

Begin your day at the City Palace, the residence of Jaipur's royal family. The palace is a beautiful blend of Rajasthani and Mughal architecture and houses fascinating artifacts and paintings from the royal collection. Afterward, head to Jantar Mantar, an 18th-century astronomical observatory that features several instruments for measuring time, predicting eclipses, and tracking stars. In the evening, visit the Hawa Mahal, also known as the Palace of Winds, to witness the spectacular sunset from its rooftop.

Recommendations

Apart from the listed attractions, you can also visit the Albert Hall Museum, Birla Mandir, and Nahargarh Fort. A side trip to the nearby town of Sanganer, known for its handmade paper and block printing, is also highly recommended. To maximize your fun, try taking a hot air balloon ride over Jaipur or indulge in a traditional Rajasthani Thali meal. Lastly, we suggest taking a walking tour of the old city to experience the local life and architecture up close.
