Two-day Adventure Itinerary for Valley of Flowers in August 2023

  1. Day 1: Valley of Flowers National Park
    5 minutes (1.0 mile) from Joshimath

    The Valley of Flowers National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is known for its alpine flowers, meadows, and pristine natural beauty. You will start the day early and drive to the entrance of the park. After completing the required formalities, start your trek to the valley. The trek is around 6 km from the entrance and takes around 3-4 hours. You will witness the beautiful flora and fauna of the valley during this trek. After reaching the valley, you will be free to explore the area and take photographs. After spending a few hours in the valley, start your trek back to the entrance and drive back to your hotel.

  2. Day 2: Hemkund Sahib
    1 hour 30 minutes (30 miles) from Joshimath

    Hemkund Sahib is a sacred Sikh shrine located at an altitude of 4,632 meters above sea level. You will start the day early and drive to the base of the shrine. From the base, you will start your trek to the shrine. The trek is around 6 km from the base and takes around 4-5 hours. The trek is steep and challenging, but the beautiful scenery during the trek makes it worth it. After reaching the shrine, you will have time to explore the area and pay your respects at the shrine. After spending a few hours at the shrine, start your trek back to the base and drive back to your hotel.

If you have an extra day, you can consider visiting the Badrinath temple, which is a sacred Hindu shrine located 1 hour 30 minutes (37 miles) from Joshimath. Another option is to visit the Auli ski resort, which is a popular skiing destination located 30 minutes (8 miles) from Joshimath. You can also consider taking a helicopter ride to get an aerial view of the valley and surrounding mountains. Make sure to carry warm clothes, sturdy shoes, and a raincoat. Keep yourself hydrated and carry snacks and energy bars for the trek. Finally, don't forget to carry your camera to capture the stunning beauty of the valley and surrounding areas.
