Two-Day Itinerary for Goa in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Explore Old Goa
    30 minutes (11.9 km) from Goa International Airport

    In the morning, visit the Basilica of Bom Jesus, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the oldest churches in Goa. Afterward, go to the Museum of Christian Art, which houses a collection of beautiful religious art. For lunch, try out Vinayak Family Restaurant which serves delicious Goan cuisine. In the afternoon, head to Se Cathedral, one of the largest churches in Asia. Finally, visit the Church of St. Francis of Assisi, a beautiful Baroque-style church. For dinner, go to Cafe Tato, which is famous for its fish curry and rice.

  2. Day 2: Beach and Forts
    40 minutes (15.6 km) from Panaji

    Start your day with a visit to Fort Aguada, a 17th-century Portuguese fort that overlooks the Arabian Sea. Afterward, head to Sinquerim Beach, where you can relax on the golden sand and soak up the sun. For lunch, try out Brittos, which is a famous beach shack and serves delicious seafood. In the afternoon, visit Chapora Fort, which offers stunning views of the surrounding area. Finally, end your day at Anjuna Beach, which is famous for its weekly flea market and is a great place to watch the sunset. For dinner, head to Gunpowder, which is known for its traditional Goan cuisine.

Recommendations

If you have time, visit the Dudhsagar Waterfalls, which are located in the Mollem National Park and are one of the highest waterfalls in India. You can also take a day trip to the nearby town of Mapusa and visit its famous Friday Market. Another great experience is taking a sunset cruise on the Mandovi River. Do not forget to try out Feni, which is a locally-made liquor and is a must-try when in Goa.

If you are looking for a side trip, you can visit the nearby state of Karnataka and explore its many attractions such as Hampi, Gokarna or Udupi. You can also take a day trip to the nearby state of Maharashtra and visit its capital, Mumbai, which is a bustling metropolis and has many attractions to offer.

To maximize your fun, it is recommended to rent a scooter or a bike, which will give you the flexibility to explore Goa at your own pace. You can also take part in water sports such as parasailing, jet skiing or banana boat rides, which are available at most beaches. Make sure to bring sunscreen, a hat and comfortable footwear as the weather can get quite hot and humid.

Finally, always be respectful of the local culture and traditions when visiting Goa. Dress modestly when visiting religious sites and do not litter on the beaches. Have a great trip!
