2-Day Itinerary for Jaipur in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Amber Fort
25 minutes (7.5 km) from Jaipur City Center

Start your day early with a visit to the magnificent Amber Fort. This majestic fort was constructed in the 16th century and is a prime example of Mughal and Hindu architecture. Explore the various sections of the fort, including Diwan-i-Aam, Sukh Niwas, and Sheesh Mahal. In the afternoon, head to Jal Mahal, located in the middle of Man Sagar Lake. The palace provides the perfect backdrop for a picturesque photo. As the day winds down, visit the Choki Dhani Village, a cultural hub that showcases the rich cultural heritage of Rajasthan. Enjoy traditional Rajasthani food while watching cultural performances.

  2. Day 2: Jantar Mantar and Hawa Mahal
15 minutes (5 km) from Amber Fort

Begin your day by visiting Jantar Mantar, an astronomical observatory constructed in the 18th century. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and consists of 19 instruments that were used to observe astronomical positions. In the afternoon, head to Hawa Mahal, also known as the Palace of Winds. The palace is a five-story façade that was built in 1799 and is made of red and pink sandstone. The palace's honeycomb structure allows for a continuous breeze to flow, keeping the palace cool even during the hottest months. As the day winds down, visit the City Palace, which is home to an extensive collection of art, manuscripts, and artifacts.

Recommendations

If you have some extra time, consider visiting Nahargarh Fort, which offers a panoramic view of Jaipur. You can also take a side trip to Pushkar, a small town located 150 km from Jaipur, which is known for its Brahma Temple and Pushkar Lake. To maximize your fun, we recommend visiting Jaipur during the annual Teej Festival, which is celebrated in August. During this festival, women dress up in traditional attire and take part in various cultural activities. Don't forget to indulge in the delicious Rajasthani cuisine, which is known for its rich and spicy flavors.
