2-Day Volunteering Itinerary in Delhi, June 2023

  1. Day 1: Visit to Akshaya Patra Foundation
    20 minutes (5.5 km) from your hotel

    Morning: Visit the Akshaya Patra Foundation, an NGO that provides mid-day meals to over 1.8 million children in India. You can volunteer to help prepare and serve meals, or simply observe the process. You'll learn about the history of the foundation and the impact it's making on the community.

    Afternoon: For lunch, try some local street food at Chandni Chowk, known for its spicy chaats and kebabs. Then, visit the India Gate, a war memorial dedicated to Indian soldiers who died during World War I. Relax and enjoy the beautiful gardens and fountains surrounding it.

    Evening: Head to the National Museum to learn about India's rich history and culture. The museum has over 200,000 works of art, including ancient artifacts, sculptures, and manuscripts.

  2. Day 2: Volunteer at Teach for India
    25 minutes (7.5 km) from your hotel

    Morning: Spend the morning volunteering at Teach for India, an organization that works towards eliminating educational inequity in India. You'll get to interact with local students and teachers and help them with their studies.

    Afternoon: Grab a bite at the Hauz Khas Village, a trendy spot with lots of cafes and restaurants. Make a stop at the Qutub Minar, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the tallest minarets in the world. The complex has several other historical monuments, including the Iron Pillar of Delhi.

    Evening: End your trip with a visit to the Lotus Temple, a Bahai House of Worship that's shaped like a lotus flower. The serene atmosphere and stunning architecture make it a great place to meditate or simply unwind.

Delhi has plenty of attractions and experiences that you can explore. If you're interested in history, you can visit the Red Fort or the Humayun's Tomb. For a spiritual experience, you can visit the Jama Masjid or the Gurudwara Bangla Sahib.

You can also take a day trip to Agra to see the Taj Mahal or to Jaipur to explore the Pink City. If you're looking for some adventure, you can try hot air ballooning or take a food tour of Old Delhi. Whatever you decide, make sure to stay hydrated and carry sunscreen and comfortable shoes.
