2-Day Itinerary for Matheran in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Charlotte Lake
    10 minutes (2.1 km) from Matheran Railway Station

    Start your day early with a visit to Charlotte Lake. This picturesque lake is surrounded by lush green forests and is a popular spot for picnics and boating. You can also take a walk around the lake and enjoy the fresh air and serene surroundings. In the afternoon, head to Louisa Point, which offers stunning panoramic views of the Sahyadri mountain range. You can also visit the historical Prabal Fort nearby. After a long day of exploring, relax in the evening at the Echo Point. The name is derived from the natural echo phenomenon that occurs here. Shout out loud and hear your own voice reverberate!

  2. Day 2: Panorama Point
    15 minutes (3.6 km) from Charlotte Lake

    Begin your second day with a visit to the Panorama Point, which offers breathtaking views of the valley and surrounding hills. You can also take a horseback ride to reach the point if you are feeling adventurous. After that, head to the Monkey Point which is a small trek through dense forests. The point is named after the abundance of monkeys found here. In the afternoon, visit the One Tree Hill Point which offers spectacular views of the surrounding hills. End your day with a visit to the Matheran Market to buy some souvenirs and local handicrafts.

If you have time, consider visiting the Alexander Point, which offers stunning views of the Garbut Point and Chowk Point. You can also take a toy train ride from Neral to Matheran, which is a unique experience. Another option is to take a trek to the Chanderi Caves, which are ancient Buddhist caves located in the nearby hills.
