Kenya: 6-Day Adventure Itinerary in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Nairobi National Park
    26 minutes (13.4km) from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport

    Start your adventure with a morning game drive at Nairobi National Park, the only wildlife park located within a city. Observe the Big Five and other exotic animals in their natural habitat. After lunch, visit the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust to see elephant calves being fed and playing. End the day with a visit to the Giraffe Centre to feed and kiss the resident giraffes.

  2. Day 2: Mount Kenya National Park
    2 hours 34 minutes (197.1km) from Nairobi National Park

    Start the day with a scenic drive to Mount Kenya National Park. Go trekking on the mountain trails while enjoying the stunning views of wildlife, waterfalls and glaciers. Stop for lunch at the mountain lodge and observe the animal life at the saltlick watering hole. In the evening, relax at the lodge and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

  3. Day 3: Lake Nakuru National Park

    Start the day with a drive to Lake Nakuru National Park. Visit the Baboon Cliff to see a panoramic view of the lake and the pink flamingos. Have a picnic lunch by the lake and then go for a game drive to see lions, leopards, rhinos and other wildlife. In the evening, relax at the lodge and enjoy the stunning views of the lake.

  4. Day 4: Hell's Gate National Park
    2 hours 29 minutes (129.6km) from Lake Nakuru National Park

    Start your day with a hike through the Hell's Gate Gorge, which inspired the scenery in Disney's "The Lion King". Observe the towering cliffs, bubbling hot springs and geothermal steam vents. After lunch, go for a cycling trip in the park, where you can see buffalos, zebras, giraffes and other grazers. End your day with a relaxing spa treatment at the nearby Olkaria Spa.

  5. Day 5: Maasai Mara National Reserve
    1 hour 42 minutes (96.3km) from Hell's Gate National Park

    Start your day with a morning hot air balloon ride over the Maasai Mara National Reserve to see the sunrise and the wildlife from an aerial view. Have a champagne breakfast at the landing site and then go for a game drive to spot the Big Five and other animals. Have a picnic lunch by the Mara River and then visit a Maasai village to learn about their culture and lifestyle. End your day with an evening game drive to catch a glimpse of the nocturnal wildlife.

  6. Day 6: Diani Beach
    4 hours 19 minutes (375.5km) from Maasai Mara National Reserve

    End your adventure with a visit to Diani Beach, one of the most pristine beaches in the world. Go for a swim in the crystal-clear waters, or try your hand at kitesurfing, windsurfing or snorkelling. Have a seafood lunch at one of the beachside restaurants, and then relax on the white sandy beach while watching the sunset. End your day with a bonfire and a beach party.

Recommendations

While in Kenya, you should also consider visiting the Amboseli National Park, Tsavo East National Park or Samburu National Reserve. You can also take a side trip to the Great Rift Valley or the Aberdare National Park. To maximize your fun, book your tours and activities in advance and bring comfortable clothes and shoes for the various activities.
