Nature Lover's Guide to Goa in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Dudhsagar Falls
    1 hour 30 minutes (43 miles) from Goa International Airport

    Start your day early and head to the stunning Dudhsagar Falls, which is at its best during the monsoon season. The waterfall is surrounded by lush green forests and the view is breathtaking. Spend the morning enjoying the nature trail, swimming in the nearby pool, and taking amazing photos. Then, have lunch at one of the local restaurants nearby and savor some delicious Goan cuisine. Spend the afternoon exploring the nearby spice plantations and learning about the cultivation of spices like cardamom, pepper, and cinnamon. In the evening, return to your hotel and relax.

  2. Day 2: Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary
    1 hour 10 minutes (29 miles) from Dudhsagar Falls

    Start your day with a visit to Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary, which is home to many species of animals and birds. Take a walk through the sanctuary and see animals like the Indian bison, deer, and monkeys, among others. There is also a small zoo in the sanctuary which houses some of the rare species of animals. After lunch, visit the nearby Tambdi Surla Temple, which is a 12th-century temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is surrounded by lush green forests and is a great place to spend some quiet time. In the evening, head back to your hotel and relax.

  3. Day 3: Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary
    1 hour (19 miles) from Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary

    Head to the Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary, which is a wetland area and is home to many species of birds. Take a boat ride through the mangroves and see some of the exotic birds like the kingfisher, stork, and egret, among others. After the boat ride, you can take a walk through the sanctuary and see some of the other animals like the flying fox and jackal. For lunch, head to the nearby village of Chorao and savor some of the local seafood delicacies. In the evening, you can visit the nearby Reis Magos Fort, which is a 16th-century fort and has great views of the river.

If you are looking for more nature-based activities, you can consider visiting the Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary or the Mhadei Wildlife Sanctuary. For a side trip, you can visit the nearby town of Old Goa, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has many beautiful churches and historical buildings. To maximize your fun, you can also consider taking a kayaking tour of the mangroves or a dolphin sighting boat tour. Don't forget to try some of the local Goan sweets and delicacies like Bebinca and fish curry rice.
