2-Day Adventure Itinerary for Dwaraka Tirumala in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Dwaraka Tirumala Temple
10 minutes (3.2 km) from Dwaraka Tirumala Bus Station

Visit the famous Dwaraka Tirumala Temple, also known as the "Chinna Tirupathi". This temple is dedicated to Lord Venkateswara, and is said to be older than the famous Tirupathi Temple. Enjoy the morning aarti and take a darshan of the deity. Afterward, hike up to the nearby Narasimha Swamy Temple, which offers stunning views of the surrounding hills and valleys. In the afternoon, explore the nearby Kondakamarla Ava Waterfall. Enjoy a refreshing swim, have a picnic, and take a walk around the waterfall. In the evening, attend the evening aarti at the Dwaraka Tirumala Temple.

  2. Day 2: Papikondalu
2 hours 30 minutes (100 km) from Dwaraka Tirumala

Take a day trip to Papikondalu, a scenic gorge on the Godavari River. Depart early in the morning from Rajahmundry and enjoy a scenic drive to Pattiseema, where you will board a boat to Papikondalu. During the boat ride, enjoy the scenic beauty of the Eastern Ghats, and watch for the many species of birds that inhabit this area. Stop at Perantalapalli to visit the famous Lord Shiva Temple, and then proceed to the Gandipochamma Temple, where you can see a beautiful waterfall. Afterward, stop at a local village to experience the lifestyle of the tribal people who live in this area. Return to Rajahmundry in the evening.

Recommendations

If you have an extra day, we recommend a visit to the nearby Bhadrachalam Temple, which is dedicated to Lord Rama. Another great option is to visit the nearby Papi Hills, which offer a beautiful scenic drive and a chance to see more waterfalls. If you are looking for an adrenaline rush, try rock climbing and rappelling at the nearby Borra Caves. Don't forget to sample the local cuisine, which includes spicy Andhra-style biryani, mirchi bajji (chilli fritters) and pootharekulu (a sweet delicacy).
