Chitkul 3-Day Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Kamru Fort
    45 minutes (18 miles) from Chitkul

    In the morning, we will visit Kamru Fort, a 15th-century fort that offers stunning views of the valley. We will also visit the Kamakshi Temple located inside the fort. In the afternoon, we will drive to Chitkul and check into our hotel. In the evening, we will explore the local market and try some delicious Himachali food.

  2. Day 2: Chitkul Village and Rakcham
    25 minutes (10 miles) from Chitkul

    In the morning, we will explore the beautiful Chitkul Village, the last inhabited village near the Indo-China border. Later, we will go for a short trek to the nearby meadows and enjoy the scenic beauty. In the afternoon, we will visit Rakcham, a small village known for its apple orchards. We will also visit the beautiful Buddhist Monastery located in the village. In the evening, we will return to Chitkul and enjoy a bonfire under the starry sky.

  3. Day 3: Sangla and Bering Nag Temple
    1 hour 15 minutes (28 miles) from Chitkul

    In the morning, we will drive to Sangla, a beautiful village situated on the banks of the Baspa River. We will visit the famous Kamru Naag Temple and the Bering Nag Temple, known for its intricate wood carvings. In the afternoon, we will relax by the river and enjoy the beautiful scenery. In the evening, we will drive back to Chitkul and prepare for our departure the next day.

Recommendations

If you have an extra day, you can visit the nearby town of Kalpa, known for its apple orchards and stunning views of the Kinnaur Kailash Range. You can also go for a trek to the beautiful Kinnaur Kailash Peak. Make sure to try the local Kinnauri Dham, a traditional Himachali meal served on special occasions.
