Two-Day Motorcycle Riding Itinerary from Bengaluru to Kolli Hills in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Kollegal
    Approximately 150 km (3 hours) from Bengaluru

    In the morning, start your journey to Kollegal, a town located at the foothills of the Eastern Ghats. Kollegal is surrounded by beautiful hills, forests and waterfalls. Visit the Chamarajanagar district's famous Male Mahadeshwara Hills which is a pilgrimage site for the Hindus. The temple is surrounded by dense forests which are home to many wild animals. Have lunch at one of the many local eateries and enjoy the local delicacies. In the afternoon, take a ride to Gaganachukki Falls, a stunning waterfall located on the Kaveri River. The waterfall is located in the midst of lush greenery and is a sight to behold. In the evening, visit the Kollegal Ranganathaswamy temple, a 1000-year-old temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The temple is known for its beautiful architecture and intricate carvings.

  2. Day 2: Kolli Hills
    Approximately 250 km (5 hours) from Kollegal

    In the morning, start your journey to Kolli Hills. The hills are known for their serene beauty, coffee plantations and trekking trails. Visit the Agaya Gangai waterfalls, which is a scenic waterfall surrounded by dense forests. Have lunch at a local restaurant and try some traditional South Indian food. In the afternoon, visit the Arapaleeswarar temple, a 15th-century temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is known for its ancient architecture and intricate carvings. In the evening, take a walk around the Namakkal Fort, a 13th-century fort located on a hill. The fort offers stunning views of the surrounding hills and valleys.

Recommendations

While in Kolli Hills, you can go on a trek to the highest peak Akasa Gangai or visit the botanical garden. Another popular attraction is the Seekuparai viewpoint, which offers a panoramic view of the entire valley. You can also visit the Siddhar Caves, which are believed to have been inhabited by Siddhars (enlightened individuals) who attained spiritual powers through meditation. For a side trip, you can plan a visit to Yercaud, a hill station located about 100 km from Kolli Hills. Yercaud is known for its scenic beauty and coffee plantations.
