Amritsar and Dalhousie 6-day itinerary in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Arrival in Amritsar
    From Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport to Golden Temple is 20 minutes (11.6 km)

    Upon arrival, visit the sacred Golden Temple, also known as Harmandir Sahib. Take a stroll around the complex, admire the stunning architecture and witness the beautiful ceremony of the Palki Sahib. In the afternoon, visit the historic Jallianwala Bagh to pay respects to the martyrs of the 1919 massacre. In the evening, attend the fascinating "Beating the Retreat" ceremony at the Wagah Border between India and Pakistan.

  2. Day 2: Amritsar to Dalhousie
    From Amritsar to Dalhousie is approximately 4 hours (194 km)

    In the morning, check out of the hotel and head towards the beautiful hill station of Dalhousie. Stop for a quick lunch at a local eatery en route. After arriving in Dalhousie, take a leisurely stroll around the town and enjoy the scenic beauty of the hills. Visit the St. John's Church, a charming church with beautiful stained glass windows, and the Dalhousie Cantonment, a historic military base with an interesting museum.

  3. Day 3: Khajjiar
    From Dalhousie to Khajjiar is approximately 1 hour (20 km)

    Visit the scenic Khajjiar, also known as "Mini Switzerland of India," in the morning. Take a stroll around and enjoy the beautiful views of the green meadows, the Khajjiar Lake, and the majestic mountains. Enjoy activities like zorbing, paragliding, and horse riding. In the afternoon, head back to Dalhousie and visit the Panchpula Waterfalls, a serene spot perfect for a picnic.

  4. Day 4: Chamba
    From Dalhousie to Chamba is approximately 1.5 hours (46 km)

    Visit the historic town of Chamba in the morning. Take a walk around the quaint town and visit the Chamba Palace, a stunning palace made of sandstone and known for its intricate architecture. Also, visit the Champavati Temple, an ancient temple dedicated to Goddess Champavati. In the afternoon, head back to Dalhousie and relax at the hotel's spa.

  6. Day 6: Departure from Amritsar
    From Dalhousie to the Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport in Amritsar is approximately 4 hours and 20 minutes (200 km)

    Check out of the hotel in Dalhousie and head back to Amritsar. On the way, stop for lunch at a local dhaba. In the evening, visit the colourful bazaars of Amritsar and buy some souvenirs to take back home. Depart from the Sri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport in the night and head back home.
