4-Day Nature Itinerary for Hampi in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Anjaneya Hill
    15 minutes (3.3 km) from Hampi Bazaar

    In the morning, hike up the 550 stairs to the top of Anjaneya Hill to see the breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. After lunch, visit the nearby Lakshmi Narasimha statue and Badavilinga temple. In the evening, take a relaxing walk and enjoy the sunset at the serene Tungabhadra riverbank.

  2. Day 2: Daroji Sloth Bear Sanctuary
    1 hour 15 minutes (25.3 km) from Hampi Bazaar

    In the morning, travel to the Daroji Sloth Bear Sanctuary and spot the endangered sloth bears in their natural habitat. After lunch, visit the nearby Hazara Rama temple and the royal enclosure. In the evening, enjoy a traditional dance performance at the Hampi Utsav stage (November to February only) or explore the craft market.

  3. Day 3: Matanga Hill and Sanapur Lake
    20 minutes (5.5 km) from Hampi Bazaar

    In the morning, hike up the Matanga Hill to watch the sunrise over the Hampi ruins. After breakfast, visit the Achyutaraya temple and the Zenana Enclosure. In the afternoon, cool off at the Sanapur Lake and enjoy some water activities. In the evening, explore the hippie island of Hampi and try some local cuisine.

  4. Day 4: Kishkindha and Hanuman Temple
    25 minutes (7.6 km) from Hampi Bazaar

    In the morning, visit the Kishkindha and Hanuman Temple to learn about the Hindu epic Ramayana and see the beautiful carvings. After lunch, visit the Hemakuta Hill temples and the Sasivekalu Ganesh statue. In the evening, take a coracle ride on the Tungabhadra river and enjoy the beautiful sunset scenery.

Recommendations

You can also consider visiting the Hampi Bazaar, Virupaksha temple, Lotus Mahal, and Vittala temple if time permits. Side trips to the nearby city of Hospet, the UNESCO World Heritage site of Pattadakal, and the colorful village of Anegundi are also great options. To maximize your fun, try renting a bike or scooter to explore Hampi or take a hot air balloon ride for a unique perspective.
