Exploring Madurai and Rameshwaram

  1. Day 1: Explore Madurai
    Madurai is located about 174 km from Rameshwaram and it takes around 3 hours to reach by road.

    In the morning, visit the famous Meenakshi Amman Temple, one of the most visited temples in India. Explore the temple and admire the intricate carvings and sculptures. Afternoon, visit the Thirumalai Nayakkar Palace, a 17th-century palace known for its unique architecture and stunning light and sound show. In the evening, head to the Gandhi Memorial Museum, which houses a collection of photographs and memorabilia related to Mahatma Gandhi.

  2. Day 2: Visit Rameshwaram

    In the morning, visit the iconic Ramanathaswamy Temple, which is one of the twelve Jyotirlinga temples and is considered one of the holiest temples in India. Afternoon, head to the Pamban Bridge, a 100-year-old railway bridge that connects Rameshwaram to the mainland. Take a walk on the bridge and enjoy the breathtaking views of the sea. In the evening, visit the Kalam National Memorial, a tribute to former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.

  3. Day 3: Explore Rameshwaram

    In the morning, visit the Dhanushkodi Beach, a beautiful and serene beach located at the eastern tip of the island and has a beautiful view of the Bay of Bengal. Afternoon, head to the Adam's Bridge, a natural bridge between India and Sri Lanka, known as Rama Setu in Hindu mythology. In the evening, visit the Agnitheertham, a holy pond in Rameshwaram where pilgrims take a ritual bath.

  4. Day 4: Relax and Departure
    Estimated Time: 3 hours

    Spend the morning relaxing and checking out from the hotel. You can take a stroll along the beach or explore any last-minute shopping. Depart for your onward journey in the afternoon.

If you have time, you can also visit the Thiruparankundram Murugan Temple and the Alagar Koil Temple in Madurai. You can also take a day trip to Kodaikanal, a scenic hill station located about 120 km from Madurai.
