2-Day Cultural Immersion Itinerary for Vrindavan, Mathura, and Goverdhan in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Vrindavan
    10 minutes (3.5 km) from Mathura

    Morning: Start your day with a visit to the Banke Bihari Temple, one of the most popular temples in Vrindavan. The best time to visit is during the morning aarti when the temple is decorated with flowers and devotees sing and dance to the devotional music. Afterward, head to the ISKCON temple and learn about the teachings of Lord Krishna and the Hare Krishna Movement.

    Afternoon: Enjoy a traditional Indian lunch at one of the local restaurants. Afterward, visit the Radha Raman Temple, known for its unique architecture and intricate carvings. Next, visit the Prem Mandir, which is beautifully lit up in the evenings.

    Evening: End your day with a visit to the Nidhivan Temple, which is believed to be the place where Lord Krishna performs his Raas Leela with Radha and the gopis. The temple has strict rules, and it is believed that if anyone stays after the evening aarti, they will be turned into a stone or a tree.

  2. Day 2: Mathura and Goverdhan

    Morning: Start your day with a visit to the Shri Krishna Janmasthan, where Lord Krishna was born. The temple is located in the heart of Mathura and is one of the most revered temples in India. Afterward, visit the Dwarkadhish Temple, which was built in 1814 and is dedicated to Lord Krishna.

    Afternoon: Enjoy a traditional lunch at one of the local restaurants in Mathura. Afterward, head to Goverdhan, which is a sacred hill located near Mathura. Visit the Goverdhan Temple, which is situated at the foothill and offers a beautiful view of the surrounding area.

    Evening: End your day with a visit to the Kusum Sarovar, which is a beautiful reservoir surrounded by gardens and sandstone structures. It is believed that Lord Krishna used to come here with his friends to pick flowers for Radha.

There are many other temples and ashrams in Vrindavan and Mathura that you could visit, such as the Radha Damodar Temple, the Madan Mohan Temple, and the Vishram Ghat.
