Three-Day Cultural Immersion Itinerary from Delhi to Kedarnath

  1. Day 1: Delhi to Haridwar to Rishikesh
    5 hours (240 km) from Delhi to Haridwar, 40 minutes (20 km) from Haridwar to Rishikesh

    In the morning, leave Delhi for Haridwar. The city is known for its religious significance and spirituality. Har Ki Pauri, a ghat located on the banks of River Ganga, is the most famous place to visit. After spending some time in Haridwar, continue to Rishikesh, known as the "Yoga Capital of the World." You can explore the temples and ashrams in the city, visit the Beatles Ashram, and walk through the lively streets of the city. In the evening, attend the mesmerizing Ganga Aarti at Triveni Ghat.

  2. Day 2: Rishikesh to Guptkashi to Kedarnath
    7 hours (220 km) from Rishikesh to Guptkashi, 16 km trek from Guptkashi to Kedarnath

    Start early in the morning and travel towards Guptkashi, a small town situated on the route to Kedarnath. Visit the ancient Vishwanath Temple and Ardhnareshwar Temple in Guptkashi before starting the trek to Kedarnath. The trek is of moderate difficulty, and it takes around 5-6 hours to reach Kedarnath. On arrival, visit the revered Kedarnath Temple and witness the evening aarti.

  3. Day 3: Kedarnath to Guptkashi to Rishikesh
    16 km trek from Kedarnath to Guptkashi, 7 hours (220 km) from Guptkashi to Rishikesh

    In the morning, visit the Kedarnath Temple and spend some time exploring the area. Start the trek back to Guptkashi after breakfast. From Guptkashi, travel back to Rishikesh. In the evening, you can attend the Ganga Aarti at Parmarth Niketan or enjoy some shopping in the local markets.

Recommendations

While in Rishikesh, you can try bungee jumping or go for a river rafting experience. If you have an extra day, you can visit the scenic town of Chopta, also known as the "Mini Switzerland of India." Another option is to visit the holy town of Badrinath, which is an hour and a half drive from Guptkashi. Make sure to try the delicious local food, including Kachori, Aloo Puri, and Lassi.
