A 4-day Itinerary for Nainital in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Naini Lake
    10 minutes (1.3 miles) from Nainital Bus Stand

    In the morning, take a boat ride on the crystal-clear waters of Naini Lake and enjoy the scenic views of the surrounding hills. In the afternoon, visit the Naina Devi Temple, located on the northern shore of the lake. The temple is believed to be one of the 64 Shakti Peeths and is a popular spot for tourists and devotees alike. In the evening, stroll around the Mall Road, which runs along the lake and indulge in some shopping and street food.

  2. Day 2: Snow View Point
    30 minutes (2.5 miles) from Naini Lake

    Start your day early and take a cable car ride to Snow View Point, which offers panoramic views of the Himalayan ranges, including Nanda Devi, Trisul, and Nanda Kot peaks. Spend some time at the viewpoint and enjoy the scenic beauty. In the afternoon, visit the Governor's House, also known as Raj Bhavan, which is a colonial-era building surrounded by lush gardens. In the evening, head to Hanuman Garhi, a temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman, and witness a beautiful sunset view from there.

  3. Day 3: Eco Cave Gardens
    20 minutes (1.5 miles) from Snow View Point

    In the morning, visit the Eco Cave Gardens, which consist of six interconnected caves of different sizes and shapes, and are home to various species of birds and animals. Explore the caves and learn about the ecosystem. In the afternoon, head to Bhimtal, a scenic lake located 22 km from Nainital, and spend some time boating and enjoying the surrounding hills. In the evening, visit the Gurney House, the former residence of Jim Corbett, a famous hunter, conservationist, and author.

  4. Day 4: Pangot and Kilbury Bird Sanctuary
    1 hour 15 minutes (15 miles) from Eco Cave Gardens

    In the morning, take a drive to Pangot, a scenic village known for its birds and wildlife, located 15 km from Nainital. Go for a nature walk and spot some rare bird species like the Himalayan Griffon, Lammergeier, and Blue-winged Minla. In the afternoon, head to Kilbury Bird Sanctuary, a protected area known for its flora and fauna, and birdwatching opportunities. In the evening, head back to Nainital and enjoy a delicious dinner at one of the local restaurants.

If you have more time, you can visit the Tiffin Top, a hilltop viewpoint, or the Khurpatal Lake, a scenic lake surrounded by lush green forests. You can also take a day trip to Mukteshwar, a beautiful hill station located 50 km from Nainital, and visit the Mukteshwar Temple and the Chauthi Jali viewpoint, which offers stunning views of the valley.
