2-Day Itinerary for Nature Lovers in Kerala - July 2023

  1. Day 1: Munnar
    3 hours 30 minutes (92.9 km) from Kochi International Airport

    Start your day with a visit to the Eravikulam National Park, home to the endangered Nilgiri Tahr. Trek up to the Anamudi Peak, the highest peak in South India, and enjoy the breathtaking views of the Western Ghats. In the afternoon, visit the Mattupetty Dam and take a boat ride in the serene waters. End the day with a visit to the Kundala Lake, surrounded by lush green tea plantations and rolling hills.

  2. Day 2: Thekkady
    2 hours 30 minutes (91.9 km) from Munnar

    Start your morning with a visit to the Periyar National Park, one of the most biodiverse regions in the world. Take a guided nature walk or a boat ride in the Periyar Lake to spot various animals and birds, including Indian elephants and Bengal tigers. In the afternoon, visit the Mangala Devi Temple, a 1000-year-old temple located in the dense forests of Thekkady. End your day with a visit to the Kadathanadan Kalari Centre to witness the ancient martial art form of Kerala, Kalaripayattu.

If you have time, you can also visit the Backwaters in Alleppey, the Hill Palace Museum in Kochi and the Varkala Beach in Thiruvananthapuram.
