3-Day Itinerary for Chopta, Tungnath, Neem Karoli Baba

  1. Day 1: Chopta
    1 hour 30 minutes (44.3 miles) from Rishikesh

    Start your day early and do some light stretching by the serene Deoria Tal. Take in the beautiful views of the lake and surrounding mountains. After breakfast, take a short hike to reach the Tungnath temple, located at an altitude of 3,680 meters. The trek is a bit challenging but worth it! Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and then spend the evening walking around the quaint town of Chopta.

  2. Day 2: Tungnath
    30 minutes (2.5 miles) from Chopta

    Start your day with a visit to the Tungnath Temple. The temple is one of the Panch Kedar and is the highest Shiva temple in the world. After the visit, head to the Chandrashila peak, which offers a panoramic view of the Himalayas. After lunch, visit the Guptkashi temple and learn about the history and mythology of the temple. In the evening, sit by the Mandakini river and relax.

  3. Day 3: Neem Karoli Baba
    3 hours 30 minutes (109 miles) from Chopta

    Start your day with a visit to the Neem Karoli Baba Ashram, located at the foothills of the Himalayas. Take a guided tour of the peaceful ashram and learn about the teachings of Neem Karoli Baba. After lunch, visit the Beatles Ashram, which was once used by the Beatles for meditation. In the evening, take a dip in the holy Ganges river and enjoy the beautiful sunset.

Recommendations

If you have extra time, you can consider visiting the Kedarnath temple or the Badrinath temple. You can also take a trek to the Deoriatal lake or the Chandrashila peak.
