A Two-day Itinerary to Explore the Best of Pondicherry in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Promenade Beach
    10 minutes (2.5 km) from Pondicherry Railway Station

    Morning: Stroll along the Promenade Beach, also known as Rock Beach and admire the sunrise while feeling the cool breeze. Take a break at the Seagulls Restaurant to sip some coffee and enjoy the mesmerizing view of the Bay of Bengal.

    Afternoon: Visit the famous Bharathi Park, located in the heart of the city, which is known for its lush greenery, beautiful sculptures, and manicured gardens. Later, head to the Sri Aurobindo Ashram to find some peace and tranquility away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

    Evening: Explore the French Quarter of Pondicherry, also known as the White Town. Visit the beautiful Notre Dame des Anges, a church that is a fine example of the French colonial architecture. End the day at Le Club, a lounge bar with a great ambiance and live music.

  2. Day 2: Auroville
    30 minutes (10 km) from Pondicherry Bus Stand

    Morning: Start the day with a visit to the Matrimandir, a golden dome that represents the soul of Auroville. Take a walk around the beautiful gardens and admire the architecture. Later, head to the Auroville Bakery to taste some mouth-watering bread and pastries.

    Afternoon: Enjoy a traditional Indian lunch at the Solar Kitchen, where food is cooked using solar energy. Visit the Visitors Centre to learn about the history and philosophy of Auroville and shop for some unique souvenirs.

    Evening: Take a stroll around the peaceful Matri Mandir Lake and enjoy the beautiful sunset. End the day with a delicious dinner at the famous Tanto Pizzeria, which serves some of the best pizzas in Pondicherry.
