4-Day Chandrashila Trek Itinerary in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Haridwar to Chopta
    7 hours (152 miles) from Haridwar Junction Railway Station
    Estimated Arrival Time: 3:00 PM

    In the morning, take a train from Haridwar Junction Railway Station to Rishikesh Railway Station. From there, take a cab to Chopta. Along the way, enjoy the scenic journey through the mountains and forests. Afternoon and evening, check in to your hotel and relax. Take a stroll around the village and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

  2. Day 2: Chopta to Tungnath to Chandrashila
    3.5 hours (3.5 miles) from Chopta
    Estimated Arrival Time: 11:00 AM

    Start early in the morning to reach Tungnath, the highest Shiva temple in the world. After reaching Tungnath, trek to Chandrashila, which is the summit of Tungnath. The trek covers 1.5 km and takes around 1.5 hours. Enjoy the breathtaking views of the Himalayas from the top. Afternoon and evening, return to Chopta and relax at your hotel.

  3. Day 3: Deoria Tal Trek
    2 hours (11 miles) from Chopta
    Estimated Arrival Time: 10:00 AM

    Start early in the morning and drive to Sari Village. From there, begin the trek to Deoria Tal, a beautiful lake surrounded by lush green forests and snow-capped mountains. The trek covers 2.3 km and takes around 1 hour. Spend some time relaxing by the lake and enjoying the stunning views. Afternoon and evening, return to Chopta and relax at your hotel.

  4. Day 4: Chopta to Haridwar
    7 hours (152 miles) from Chopta
    Estimated Arrival Time: 4:00 PM

    In the morning, leave Chopta and drive back to Haridwar. Along the way, stop at the Devprayag, the confluence of the Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers to witness the holy site. Afternoon and evening, explore the city of Haridwar and visit the Har Ki Pauri ghat to witness the evening aarti ceremony.

Recommendations

There are several side trips you can take from Chopta, such as visiting the Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary or trekking to the Kanchula Korak Musk Deer Sanctuary. Additionally, you can visit the nearby towns of Ukhimath and Gopeshwar to experience the local culture and traditions. To maximize your fun, make sure to pack comfortable trekking shoes and warm clothing as the temperature can drop significantly at night. Lastly, try the local delicacies such as Garhwal ka Fannah and Arsa while in Chopta.
