In the morning, start your journey with a 2.5 km trek from the main shrine to Bhaironath Temple. A steep climb, the trail takes about 2 hours to reach the temple. The temple is dedicated to Bhairav Nath, an incarnation of Lord Shiva, and is believed to be a protector of the holy shrine. Afternoon and evening can be spent exploring the nearby markets and sampling local delicacies such as Kachalu Chaat and Rajma Chawal.
Today, start early and begin the trek towards the Vaishnodevi Shrine, which is located 12.2 km from Bhaironath Temple. The trek is a gradual climb and takes approximately 5 hours to reach the shrine. The cave shrine is dedicated to the Hindu goddess, Vaishno Devi, and is considered one of the holiest shrines in India. Spend the day exploring the shrine and its surroundings and return to Bhaironath Temple by evening.
On the final day, take an early morning trek towards Ardh Kuwari, located 6.2 km from Bhaironath Temple. The trek takes you through scenic forests and is considered moderately difficult. Ardh Kuwari is a natural cave that is believed to be the place where Goddess Vaishno Devi meditated for 9 months before finally merging with the divine. Spend the day exploring the cave and the surrounding areas before returning to the main shrine by evening.
Other local attractions that you may consider visiting include the Bhumika Temple, Shiv Khori, and the Nau Devi Temple. You may also want to take a side trip to Patnitop, a picturesque hill station located approximately 80 km away from Vaishnodevi. To maximize your fun, we recommend starting your trek early in the morning to avoid the crowds and carrying plenty of water and snacks. Finally, be sure to check the weather conditions before embarking on your journey and pack accordingly.
