Exploring Thivim in August 2023

  1. Day 1: Chapora Fort
    15 minutes (4.2 km) from Thivim Station

    In the morning, visit Chapora Fort which was built by the Portuguese in 1617. Enjoy the scenic views of the Arabian Sea and the surrounding areas from the top of the fort. In the afternoon, head to Vagator Beach which is located nearby and relax on the sandy beach. In the evening, explore the Anjuna Flea Market, shop for souvenirs, and enjoy some delicious local food.

  2. Day 2: Dudhsagar Falls
    1 hour 45 minutes (72.4 km) from Thivim Station

    In the morning, take a scenic train ride from Thivim to Dudhsagar Falls. This four-tiered waterfall is one of the tallest in India and is located in the Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary and Mollem National Park. You can take a dip in the refreshing water and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. In the afternoon, visit the Tambdi Surla Temple which is located nearby. This ancient temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is a great example of the rich history and culture of Goa. In the evening, head back to Thivim and relax.

  3. Day 3: Calangute Beach
    20 minutes (6.5 km) from Thivim Station

    In the morning, visit Calangute Beach which is one of the most popular beaches in Goa. Enjoy water sports such as parasailing, jet skiing, and banana boat rides. In the afternoon, explore the nearby Baga Beach and have lunch at one of the beach shacks. In the evening, visit the Casino Palms which is located nearby and try your luck at the various games.

  4. Day 4: Aguada Fort
    35 minutes (11.5 km) from Thivim Station

    In the morning, visit Aguada Fort which was built by the Portuguese in 1612. The fort overlooks the Arabian Sea and offers stunning views of the surrounding areas. In the afternoon, head to Sinquerim Beach which is located nearby and relax on the sandy beach. In the evening, visit the LPK Waterfront which is located nearby and enjoy the nightlife.

Recommendations

If you have extra time, you can also visit the Basilica of Bom Jesus, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the Museum of Christian Art. You can also take a side trip to the Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary or the Bhagwan Mahaveer Wildlife Sanctuary. To maximize your fun, consider renting a scooter or a bike and exploring the nearby areas. Don't forget to try the local cuisine including seafood, vindaloo, and bebinca. Lastly, don't forget to check out the local festivals and events such as the Goa Carnival and the International Film Festival of India.
