Madikeri Adventure Itinerary - June 2023

  1. Day 1: Abbey Falls
    10 minutes (2.5 km) from Madikeri

    Morning: Start your adventure in Madikeri by visiting Abbey Falls. The scenic beauty of the waterfall is accentuated by the surrounding plantations and mountains. It is a great spot for trekking, and you can capture the beauty of the falls by taking a dip in the water during the monsoon season (June-September).

    Afternoon: Head to Madikeri Fort, a historical landmark with a rich history spanning back to 1681. The fort is situated amidst rolling hills and lush greenery. Explore the fort and the adjacent museum to learn about the history, culture and traditions of Madikeri.

    Evening: End your day at Raja’s Seat, a beautiful garden overlooking a valley of hills and greenery. Watch the sunset and enjoy a cup of tea while relaxing in the garden.

  2. Day 2: Brahmagiri Wildlife Sanctuary
    1 hour 15 minutes (39.6 km) from Madikeri

    Morning: Start your day by visiting the Brahmagiri Wildlife Sanctuary, located in the Western Ghats. The sanctuary is home to several wildlife species, including tigers, elephants, deer and rare bird species. Take a guided trek through the sanctuary and explore the beauty of nature.

    Afternoon: Head to Dubare Elephant Camp, a unique and exciting experience where you can observe and interact with elephants. The camp offers activities such as feeding, bathing, and riding the elephants.

    Evening: End your day with a visit to Madikeri Hill Station, a scenic and serene viewpoint. Enjoy the cool breeze and the panoramic view of the Western Ghats.

Apart from the above, you can also consider visiting the Talacauvery, the birthplace of river Cauvery, and the Namdroling Monastery, a famous Tibetan Buddhist Monastery. You can also take a side trip to Coorg Wildlife Society, a shelter for orphaned and injured animals. To maximize your fun, you can try river rafting on the Barapole River or trekking to the Tadiyendamol Peak, the highest peak in Coorg.
