Exploring Ujjain in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Mahakaleshwar Temple
    5 minutes (0.5 miles) from Ujjain Junction Railway Station

    Start your day with a visit to the Mahakaleshwar Temple, one of the most famous and revered temples in Ujjain. Known for its unique architecture and religious importance, this temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and attracts a large number of devotees every day. Witness the morning aarti and seek blessings before exploring the nearby market and sampling some local delicacies. In the afternoon, make your way to the Kaliadeh Palace, located on the banks of the Shipra river. Take a leisurely stroll around the palace gardens and enjoy the scenic views.     Start your day with a visit to the Bhartrihari Caves, a place of solitude and meditation for the great poet and philosopher, Bhartrihari. The caves are located on the banks of the Shipra river, and the serene environment is perfect for introspection. In the afternoon, visit the Chintaman Ganesh Temple, one of the oldest and most revered temples in Ujjain. The temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha and witnesses a large number of devotees every day. Take a stroll around the nearby market and pick up some souvenirs before heading back to your hotel.
