3-Day Shoestring Budget Itinerary for Goa in August 2023

  1. Day 1: Explore Panaji
    30 minutes (8.5 miles) from Dabolim Airport

    In the morning, explore the Latin Quarter of Fontainhas, where you can see the heritage buildings with their sloping roofs and narrow winding streets. For lunch, head to the food stalls at Miramar Beach for some tasty seafood. In the afternoon, visit the Mahalaxmi Temple and the Maruti Temple. End the day by watching the sunset at Dona Paula Beach.

  2. Day 2: Visit North Goa
    1 hour 15 minutes (31.6 miles) from Panaji

    Start the day at the bustling market of Mapusa, which sells everything from vegetables to souvenirs. Next, visit the 17th-century Portuguese Fort Aguada and the nearby Sinquerim Beach. In the afternoon, head to the Anjuna Flea Market, where you can shop for souvenirs and enjoy live music performances. End the day at the Vagator Beach, where you can relax and watch the sunset.

  3. Day 3: South Goa and Old Goa
    1 hour 25 minutes (29.5 miles) from North Goa

    Start the day by visiting the Shri Mangeshi Temple, one of the largest and most beautiful temples in Goa. Next, head to Old Goa to visit the 16th-century Basilica of Bom Jesus, which houses the remains of Saint Francis Xavier. In the afternoon, visit the picturesque Palolem Beach, where you can relax and enjoy the view. End the day with a visit to the Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary, where you can go on a nature walk and spot some of the local wildlife.

Recommendations

If you have extra time, consider visiting the Dudhsagar Falls, a beautiful four-tiered waterfall located on the Mandovi River. You can also take a day trip to the nearby state of Maharashtra to visit the Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary and Mollem National Park. To maximize your fun, try some of the water sports available at the beaches, such as jet skiing, parasailing, and banana boat rides. Finally, don't forget to try some of the local cuisine, such as vindaloo, xacuti, and sorpotel.
