In the morning, we will visit the iconic Leh Palace. The palace was built in the 17th century and offers a panoramic view of the city. After lunch, we will head to the Namgyal Tsemo Gompa, a monastery that houses a three-story statue of Lord Buddha. In the evening, we will explore the vibrant Leh Market, which is famous for its handicrafts and local delicacies.
Today, we will drive to Hemis Monastery, the largest and wealthiest monastery in Ladakh. The monastery dates back to the 17th century and is famous for its annual Hemis Festival which showcases the vibrant culture of Ladakh. In the afternoon, we will visit the Thiksey Monastery, which is famous for its 12-story Maitreya Buddha statue and stunning views of the Indus Valley. We will end the day with a visit to the Shey Palace, a former summer palace of the Ladakhi kings.
Today, we will drive to the world-famous Pangong Tso Lake, which is known for its beautiful blue waters that change colors throughout the day. We will spend the day exploring the lake and the nearby villages. In the evening, we will drive back to Leh and spend the night there.
Today, we will visit the Khardung La Pass, which is one of the highest motorable passes in the world. We will stop at the South Pullu checkpoint for permits before reaching the pass. On the way, we will also visit the Diskit Monastery, which is famous for its 32-meter statue of Maitreya Buddha. In the evening, we will visit the Shanti Stupa, which offers stunning views of the city and the surrounding mountains.
If you have more time, you can also visit the Alchi Monastery, which is famous for its ancient paintings and murals. You can also take a day trip to the Nubra Valley, which is known for its sand dunes and double-humped camels. To maximize your fun, try to experience local Ladakhi cuisine such as Momos and Thukpa. Don't forget to carry warm clothing as December is peak winter season in Ladakh.
