Candolim 2-Day Foodie Itinerary in August 2023

  1. Day 1: Candolim Beach
    10 minutes (2.5 kilometers) from your hotel

    Start your day early and head to Candolim Beach to watch the sunrise. Take a stroll along the beach and enjoy the calm before the crowds arrive. For breakfast, head to Cafe Chocolatti, a cozy cafe located just a few minutes away. Enjoy their delicious pancakes, waffles, and freshly brewed coffee.

    For lunch, head to Fisherman's Wharf, a seafood restaurant located on the beach. Try their famous Goan prawn curry or the grilled pomfret. In the afternoon, visit Fort Aguada, a 17th-century Portuguese fort located on a hilltop overlooking the Arabian Sea. Take a guided tour to learn about its history and enjoy the panoramic views.

    In the evening, head to LPK Waterfront, a nightclub located on the banks of the Nerul River. Enjoy some cocktails and dance the night away.

  2. Day 2: Mapusa Market
    20 minutes (7 kilometers) from your hotel

    Start your day at Cafe Sussegado Souza, a charming cafe in Calangute. Enjoy their freshly baked croissants and cappuccino. After breakfast, head to Mapusa Market, a bustling market selling spices, fruits, vegetables, and handicrafts. Take a walk through the market and try some of the local snacks like bhaji pav or samosas.

    For lunch, head to Gunpowder, a rustic restaurant serving traditional Indian cuisine. Try their slow-cooked pork vindaloo or the butter garlic crab. In the afternoon, visit the Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary, a haven for bird watchers. Take a boat ride through the mangroves and spot some of the 400 species of birds that inhabit the area.

    In the evening, head to Thirsty Bear, a microbrewery in Calangute. Try their signature craft beers and enjoy some live music.

Recommendations

If you have time, consider taking a day trip to Dudhsagar Falls, a four-tiered waterfall located on the Mandovi River. You can also visit the Reis Magos Fort, a 16th-century fort that has been converted into a museum.

For foodies, a cooking class is a great way to learn about Goan cuisine. Try classes at Siolim House or Rita's Gourmet Goa.
