Two-Day Itinerary for a Tour in Raiput in July 2023

  1. Day 1: City Palace
15 minutes (5.3 km) from Jaipur International Airport

In the morning, head to the magnificent City Palace, which is the heart of the city. Built-in 1732, the palace is a stunning blend of Rajasthani and Mughal architecture. You can spend the entire morning wandering around the palace complex, exploring its courtyards, gardens, and museums. After lunch, head to the Jantar Mantar Observatory, which is right next to the City Palace. The observatory has a collection of nineteen architectural astronomical instruments, and it is a UNESCO World Heritage site. In the evening, visit the Hawa Mahal, also known as the Palace of Winds. The palace has 953 small windows, and it was built in 1799 to allow royal women to observe life on the street without being seen.

  2. Day 2: Amer Fort and Nahargarh Fort
30 minutes (9.8 km) from City Palace

Start your day with a visit to the Amer Fort, which is located on a hilltop and offers stunning views of the city. You can reach the fort on an elephant or by car. The fort has several palaces, including the Sheesh Mahal, which is known for its beautiful mirror work. After lunch, head to the Nahargarh Fort, which is located on the Aravalli Hills. The fort was built in the 18th century and is known for its spectacular sunset views. In the evening, you can head back to the City Palace area and explore the local markets or visit the Albert Hall Museum, which is known for its collection of ancient Indian artifacts.

Recommendations

If you have additional time in Raiput, consider visiting the Jaigarh Fort, which is located near the Amer Fort and is known for its collection of cannons and the world's largest cannon. You can also take a day trip to the Pushkar Lake and the Brahma Temple, which are about a 3-hour drive from the city. If you want to experience local cuisine, head to the Chokhi Dhani village in the evening, where you can enjoy traditional Rajasthani food and cultural performances. To maximize your fun, consider hiring a local guide who can give you insights into the city's history and culture. Safe travels!
