3-Day Itinerary for Madikeri in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Abbey Falls
    10 minutes (3.5 km) from Madikeri town

    Start your day by visiting Abbey falls, a beautiful waterfall surrounded by lush greenery. Take a short 10-minute hike to reach the falls and witness the amazing view. Spend your morning exploring the area around the falls and take a dip in the natural pool. After enjoying the falls, head to Raja's Seat, a popular sunset point, around 15 minutes (5 km) from the falls. Here, you can relax and enjoy the scenic view of Madikeri town and surrounding hills. In the evening, visit the Madikeri Fort, a historical monument built in the 17th century. End your day with a walk around the fort and learn about its rich history.

  2. Day 2: Dubare Elephant Camp
    1 hour 15 minutes (30 km) from Madikeri town

    Start your day early and head to Dubare Elephant Camp, home to over 150 elephants. You can watch the elephants being bathed and fed by their mahouts. After spending some time with the elephants, go for a coracle ride on the river Cauvery and enjoy the scenic beauty of the surrounding forest. Later, you can visit the Nisargadhama Forest, a beautiful island formed by the river Cauvery. Spend your evening exploring the island and enjoying various recreational activities like boating and elephant rides.

  3. Day 3: Talacauvery and Bhagamandala
    1 hour 30 minutes (45 km) from Madikeri town

    Start your day by visiting Talacauvery, the origin of the river Cauvery. It is believed that taking a dip in the holy waters of Talacauvery will wash away all sins. Spend your morning exploring the temple and the surrounding area. After that, head to Bhagamandala, located just 8 km from Talacauvery. It is the confluence of three rivers, Cauvery, Kannike, and Sujyoti. Spend your afternoon exploring the Bhagandeshwara temple and the nearby market, where you can buy souvenirs and local handicrafts. In the evening, head back to Madikeri town and enjoy the local cuisine and culture.
