6-Day Itinerary for Adventure in Haridwar, Kedarnath, Chopta, Badrinath, and Rishikesh in October 2023

  1. Day 1: Haridwar
    30 minutes (20.1 miles) from Dehradun

    Start your adventure with a morning dip in the Ganges river followed by a visit to the Har Ki Pauri ghat, one of the most famous landmarks in Haridwar. In the afternoon, explore Rajaji National Park, home to Bengal tigers, leopards, and elephants.   2. Day 2: Kedarnath

  3. Day 3: Chopta

    Spend the morning bird watching and wildlife spotting in the Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary. In the afternoon, trek to Tungnath, the highest Shiva temple in the world, and continue the trek to Chandrashila Peak for breathtaking views of the Himalayas.   4. Day 4: Badrinath

    Visit the Badrinath temple, one of the four Char Dhams in India, and take a dip in the Tapt Kund hot springs. In the afternoon, trek to Vasudhara falls, a stunning waterfall located in the Vasudhara river valley. Spend the evening exploring the nearby Mana village, the last Indian village before the border with Tibet.

  5. Day 5: Rishikesh
    9 hours (182 miles) from Badrinath

    Spend the morning white water rafting in the Ganges river. In the afternoon, visit the Beatles Ashram, where the famous band stayed in 1968 and wrote some of their most famous songs. In the evening, attend the Ganga Aarti in Triveni Ghat, Rishikesh's most famous ghat.

  6. Day 6: Rishikesh
    30 minutes (11.1 miles) from Dehradun

    Spend the morning practicing yoga in one of the many yoga ashrams in Rishikesh, known as the yoga capital of the world. In the afternoon, explore Neer Garh Waterfall, one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Uttarakhand. In the evening, enjoy a relaxing walk along the Ganges river and visit some of the local markets.

If you have additional time, consider visiting Auli, a popular ski destination, or Valley of Flowers National Park, known for its beautiful meadows of alpine flowers. For a side trip, visit the city of Mussoorie, known as the "Queen of Hills", for its scenic beauty and colonial architecture.
