As you start your Kerala Munnar adventure, we suggest visiting Top Station. It's the highest point in Munnar and offers a breathtaking view of the Western Ghats. Start your day with a trek to the top of the hill where you can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. After the trek, indulge in a delicious lunch at one of the local restaurants. Spend your afternoon exploring the tea plantations and learning the tea-making process. End your day by watching the sunset at Top Station.
On day 2, we recommend visiting Anamudi Peak, the highest mountain peak in South India. Start your morning with a trek to the top, which takes about 4-5 hours. Along the way, you'll see exotic flora and fauna such as the Nilgiri Tahr and the Sambar Deer. After the trek, take a refreshing dip in the nearby waterfalls. In the afternoon, visit the Eravikulam National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, to explore the rich biodiversity and witness the breathtaking views of the landscape.
On day 3, visit the Mattupetty Dam and Lake, located in the tranquil setting of Munnar. Start your morning by taking a boat ride on the lake while enjoying the cool breeze and scenic beauty. If you're feeling adventurous, you can try your hand at rock climbing and rappelling. After the activities, have lunch at the nearby restaurants famous for their traditional Kerala cuisine. In the evening, visit the Kundala Lake, and take a light walk around the lake's picturesque gardens.
On your last day, we recommend visiting Echo Point, an excellent spot for trekking, camping, and nature walks. You can enjoy the stunning echo phenomenon here, where your voice echoes back to you. Afterward, head to Lakkam Waterfalls, a natural marvel surrounded by lush green forests and towering trees. You can take a relaxing dip in the cool waters and enjoy your last moments in this tranquil paradise.
If you have some extra time, we recommend visiting the Tea Museum, which showcases the history of tea plantation in Munnar. Also, you can explore the aromatic spice gardens, learn the process of spices and their uses. You can also take a side trip to the beautiful town of Thekkady or Kumarakom and experience the backwaters of Kerala. To maximize your fun, we suggest starting your days early to avoid crowds and to keep an extra layer of clothing as the weather tends to be slightly colder in September.
