7-Day Itinerary for Motorcycle Riding in Ladakh in September 2023

  1. Day 1: Leh
    12 minutes (3.7 km) from Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport

    In the morning, explore the Leh Palace, an ancient nine-storey royal palace with a museum displaying historical artefacts.   2. Day 2: Khardung La Pass
    2 hours 21 minutes (39 km) from Leh

    Start an early morning ride to Khardung La Pass, world's highest motorable road at 18,380 feet. Enjoy a hot cup of tea and some snacks at the army canteen and take in the breathtaking views. Return to Leh in the afternoon and visit the Leh Mosque, a 17th-century mosque built during the Mughal era.

  3. Day 3: Nubra Valley

    Ride to Zanskar Valley, a remote valley known for its stunning landscapes, glaciers, and whitewater rafting. Visit the Phuktal Monastery, built into a cliff, and hike to the frozen Zanskar River. Stay overnight in a traditional homestay and enjoy a campfire dinner.

  7. Day 7: Alchi Monastery
    2 hours 17 minutes (68 km) from Zanskar Valley

    Ride to Alchi Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its ancient murals and sculptures. Visit the Likir Monastery, known for its giant statue of Maitreya Buddha, and stop at the Basgo Palace ruins. Return to Leh and attend a cultural show at the Ladakh Arts and Media Organisation.
