Exploring the Mountains in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Mount Baldy
    1 hour 15 minutes (45 miles) from Downtown Los Angeles

    Start your morning off with a scenic drive up to Mount Baldy, the highest peak in the San Gabriel Mountains. Take the ski lift up to the Top of the Notch restaurant for a delicious lunch with breathtaking views. Spend your afternoon hiking the challenging Devil's Backbone Trail or take an easier hike to the stunning San Antonio Falls. End your evening with a leisurely drive back down the mountain, stopping at the Mount Baldy Visitor Center to learn more about the area's history and wildlife.

  2. Day 2: Joshua Tree National Park
    2 hours 30 minutes (135 miles) from Mount Baldy

    Get an early start to your morning and head out to Joshua Tree National Park. Take a refreshing hike through Hidden Valley, a stunning oasis in the desert, and explore the unique rock formations of Jumbo Rocks. Head to Keys View for panoramic views of the Coachella Valley before setting up camp at the Hidden Valley Campground. Spend your evening stargazing and enjoying the peaceful sounds of the desert.

  3. Day 3: Mammoth Mountain
    3 hours 45 minutes (260 miles) from Joshua Tree National Park

    Wake up early and drive to Mammoth Mountain for a day of outdoor fun. Take the gondola to the summit for amazing views and then head to the Adventure Center to enjoy mountain biking, hiking, or zip-lining. Stop by the Mammoth Brewing Company for a delicious lunch and some locally crafted beer before heading back out for more adventure. End your day by taking a soak in the natural hot springs at Wild Willy's.

If you have extra time, consider taking a side trip to Lake Arrowhead, a picturesque mountain town with plenty of water sports and hiking trails. For a unique experience, try hot air ballooning over the desert of Palm Springs.
