Four-Day Itinerary for Leh Ladakh in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Visit Shanti Stupa
    10 minutes (1.5 km) from Leh

    In the morning, visit the beautiful Shanti Stupa, a Buddhist white-domed stupa on a hilltop in Chanspa. It offers a panoramic view of the surrounding snow-capped mountains. In the afternoon, head to Leh Palace, the former royal palace of the Leh Kingdom. The palace is decorated with traditional paintings and artifacts. Finally, in the evening, explore the Leh Bazaar, which offers an excellent shopping experience with its unique collection of handicrafts and jewelry.

  2. Day 2: Explore Nubra Valley
    126 km from Leh (4-hour drive)

    Head out early morning to Nubra Valley, a high-altitude desert where you can ride a double-humped Bactrian camel. Visit the Diskit Monastery, which has a massive statue of Maitreya Buddha. Also, visit the Hundar Sand Dunes and enjoy the breathtaking views of the beautiful landscape. At night, stay in a camp in the valley and enjoy the cultural show and dinner under the stars.

  3. Day 3: Visit the Magnetic Hill and Pangong Tso Lake
    250 km from Nubra Valley (5-hour drive)

    In the morning, visit the Magnetic Hill, a gravity-defying hill that pulls cars uphill. You can also visit the nearby Gurdwara Pathar Sahib. Later, head towards Pangong Tso Lake, which is the highest saltwater lake in the world. Enjoy the spectacular views of the clear blue waters and the surrounding mountains. Spend the night in a homestay in Spangmik village.

  4. Day 4: Explore Alchi Monastery and Lamayuru Monastery
    100 km from Pangong Tso Lake (3-hour drive)

    In the morning, visit the Alchi Monastery, which is one of the oldest monasteries in Ladakh. It has a unique style of paintings and architecture. Afterward, head to the Lamayuru Monastery, which is perched on top of a steep hill. The monastery has a beautiful collection of thangkas and paintings. In the evening, return to Leh and explore the local food scene.
