3-Day Family-Friendly Itinerary for Kedarnath in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Kedarnath Temple

    In the morning, visit the Kedarnath Temple, one of the most revered temples in India. It is said that visiting the temple can cleanse one's soul. After lunch, take a 5-minute stroll to Shankaracharya Samadhi, the final resting place of Adi Shankaracharya. In the evening, take a leisurely walk around the temple complex and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.

  2. Day 2: Gandhi Sarovar and Vasuki Tal Trek
    Located in Kedarnath, start trek from the Kedarnath Temple

    Start your day early with a trek to Gandhi Sarovar, a serene lake surrounded by snow-capped mountains. The trek is easy to moderate and takes about 3-4 hours. After lunch, continue your trek to Vasuki Tal, another beautiful lake located at an altitude of 14,200 feet. The trek to Vasuki Tal is slightly challenging and takes about 4-5 hours. Return to Kedarnath by evening and rest for the night.

  3. Day 3: Gauri Kund and Tungnath-Chandrashila Trek

    In the morning, take a 30-minute drive to Gauri Kund, a natural hot water spring and a popular pilgrimage site. Take a dip in the hot spring and seek blessings from the Gauri Devi temple. After lunch, start your trek to Tungnath, the highest Shiva temple in the world. The trek is easy to moderate and takes about 2-3 hours. From Tungnath, continue your trek to Chandrashila, a beautiful summit with panoramic views of the Himalayas. The trek to Chandrashila is slightly challenging and takes about 1-2 hours. Return to Kedarnath by evening and rest for the night.

If you have some extra time, you can visit the nearby towns of Guptkashi and Rudraprayag, which are known for their scenic beauty and temples. You can also go on a helicopter tour to get a bird's eye view of the Himalayas. Make sure to carry enough warm clothes and trekking gear for the treks.
