  1. Day 1: Visit Durham Castle

  2. Day 2: Discover Beamish Museum

    Discover the open-air museum that tells the story of life in North East England during the 1820s, 1900s and 1940s. You can also take a ride on the recreated Victorian railway. In the evening, try some of the local delicacies at one of the many restaurants in the area.

  3. Day 3: Visit Bamburgh Castle
    1 hour 40 minutes (66.3 miles) from Beamish Museum

    Take a tour of Bamburgh Castle, one of the largest inhabited castles in the country. Enjoy the stunning views of the Northumberland coastline from the castle walls. Afterward, head to the nearby village for some fish and chips at one of the local eateries.

  4. Day 4: Explore Alnwick Castle
    35 minutes (20.2 miles) from Bamburgh Castle

    Learn about the rich history of the castle that has been home to the Percy family for over 700 years. You can also explore the beautiful gardens and try your hand at broomstick flying at the location used in the Harry Potter films. In the evening, head to the nearby town for some traditional Northumberland cuisine.

  5. Day 5: Discover Tynemouth
    1 hour 10 minutes (41.4 miles) from Alnwick Castle

    Explore the charming village of Tynemouth, with its stunning beaches and historic castle and priory. Visit the local market for some handmade crafts and artisanal food. In the evening, enjoy a pint of beer at one of the local bars.

If you have extra time, visit Hadrian's Wall, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that tells the story of the northern frontier of the Roman Empire.
