Tirupati and Kolhapur Family-Friendly Itinerary for August 2023

  1. Day 1: Tirumala Venkateswara Temple
    25 minutes (12.3 km) from Tirupati Airport

    In the morning, visit the Tirumala Venkateswara Temple, one of the most famous and visited temples in India. Enjoy a darshan of Lord Venkateswara and walk around the temple premises. In the afternoon, have a delicious lunch at the temple's Prasadam restaurant and then head over to the nearby Talakona Waterfalls. In the evening, enjoy a light show at the temple's museum, showcasing the temple's history and importance.

  2. Day 2: Sri Vari Museum
    20 minutes (8 km) from Tirumala Venkateswara Temple

    Spend the morning at the Sri Vari Museum, which gives a glimpse into the history and culture of the temple town. In the afternoon, take a scenic drive through the Seshachalam Hills to the Chandragiri Fort, an ancient fort with beautiful architecture and a museum showcasing its history. In the evening, visit Swami Pushkarini Lake, which is located adjacent to the temple and considered holy.

  3. Day 3: Mahalaxmi Temple

  4. Day 4: Jotiba Temple
    1 hour and 20 minutes (30 km) from Mahalaxmi Temple

    Spend your morning at the Jotiba Temple, located on a hilltop with stunning views of the surrounding landscape. The temple is also known for its annual fair, which takes place in the month of Chaitra (March-April). In the afternoon, visit the Panhala Fort, which has a rich history and is a great place to learn about the Maratha Empire. In the evening, take a walk through the vibrant markets of Kolhapur and sample some of the local delicacies.

  5. Day 5: Dajipur Wildlife Sanctuary
    2 hours and 30 minutes (133 km) from Jotiba Temple

    Spend your last day exploring the Dajipur Wildlife Sanctuary, which is home to many species of flora and fauna, including the Indian Bison. Take a jungle safari and see if you can spot some of the wildlife in their natural habitat. In the afternoon, head back to Kolhapur and visit the Bhavani Mandap, a heritage structure known for its unique architecture. In the evening, enjoy a cultural show at the Mahalaxmi Natyashala, showcasing traditional dance and music performances.
