Mysore, Coorg, and Ooty: 5-Day Itinerary for June 2023

  1. Day 1: Mysore
    10 minutes (3.4 km) from Mysore Palace

    In the morning, visit the Mysore Palace, one of the most famous tourist attractions in India. Afternoon, head to the Chamundeshwari Temple where you can see the statue of Nandi, the bull, and witness the panoramic view of Mysore city. In the evening, explore the sprawling Brindavan Gardens, which is a beautiful sight when illuminated at night.

  2. Day 2: Coorg
    3 hours (118 km) from Mysore

    Start your morning at Dubare Elephant Camp, where you can observe and interact with elephants and participate in activities such as elephant bathing and feeding. Afternoon, visit the Golden Temple, the largest Tibetan settlement in India, and learn more about their culture and history. In the evening, head to Raja's Seat, a popular sunset point located in the heart of Madikeri town.

  3. Day 3: Coorg
    1 hour 45 minutes (84 km) from Madikeri

    Begin your day at Abbey Falls, one of the most picturesque waterfalls in Coorg. After completing your trek, visit the ancient Omkareshwara Temple, a blend of Islamic and Gothic architecture. In the evening, visit the Madikeri Fort and Museum that showcases the history of Coorg.

  4. Day 4: Ooty
    5 hours (220 km) from Coorg

    Start your day at the Government Botanical Garden, a beautifully landscaped garden that houses a variety of flowers and trees. Afternoon, visit the Ooty Lake, a popular tourist spot for boating and picnicking. In the evening, take a ride on the Nilgiri Mountain Railway, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that offers stunning views of the surrounding hills and valleys.

  5. Day 5: Ooty
    15 minutes (5.3 km) from Rose Garden

    Begin your day at the Doddabetta Peak, the highest point in Ooty, and witness the breathtaking views of the valley below. Afternoon, head to the Tea Museum to learn about the process of tea-making and sample some of the finest tea in India. In the evening, visit the Rose Garden, a beautiful garden that houses a vast collection of roses.

Recommendations

If you have extra time in Mysore, consider visiting the St. Philomena's Church, the second tallest church in Asia, or the Folklore Museum. If you want to experience nature, head to Nagarhole National Park in Coorg, famous for its wildlife and birdwatching opportunities. In Ooty, visit the Pykara Waterfalls or go trekking in the Mukurthi National Park. A side trip to Coonoor, a small hill station located 20 km from Ooty, is also highly recommended.
