Transportation:

Although Prague and Budapest are connected by a train service that departs several times a day, we recommend renting a car to visit Cesky Krumlov and Koněprusy Caves. Buses and trams are reliable and cheap for getting around Prague, and taxis and Ubers are easily available, but they can be expensive during peak hours. The average cost of renting a car is CZK 1500 per day, and gasoline is around CZK 30 per liter. Train tickets to Budapest cost around CZK 1000-1500 each way, and the journey takes approximately 2-3 hours.

Useful Tips:

If you have more time, consider taking a day trip to Karlovy Vary, a spa town renowned for its thermal springs, or Kutna Hora, a Gothic cathedral town that has a bone chapel. If you have less time, skip Budapest and spend more time exploring Prague or take shorter day trips closer to Prague.
