Recommendations

If you have time, consider taking a day trip to the nearby backwaters of Kerala. You can rent a houseboat and explore the canals and lagoons while enjoying the scenic beauty. Another popular attraction is the Sivagiri Mutt, a spiritual center founded by the philosopher and social reformer Sri Narayana Guru.

To maximize your fun, try some of the local cuisine. Varkala is known for its seafood, and you can find a wide variety of dishes at the restaurants and cafes. You can also try some of the local snacks like banana chips and jackfruit chips.

Lastly, make sure to bring sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses as the sun can be quite strong in June. Also, keep in mind that Varkala can be crowded during the peak tourist season, so plan ahead and book your hotels and flights in advance.
