4-Day Itinerary for Indore and Ujjain in September 2023

  1. Day 1: Explore Indore
    9 minutes (2.1 km) from Indore Airport

    In the morning, visit the Rajwada Palace and explore the history of the Holkar dynasty. In the afternoon, head to the Kanch Mandir, a unique Jain temple made of glass and mirrors. End the day by enjoying street food at Sarafa Bazaar, Indore's famous food street.

  2. Day 2: Indore to Ujjain
    1 hour 20 minutes (55.2 km) from Indore

    Drive to Ujjain in the morning and visit the Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas in India. In the afternoon, explore the ancient Vedha Shala Observatory and learn about the Hindu astronomical system. In the evening, watch the traditional aarti ceremony at the Ram Ghat on the banks of the Shipra River.

  3. Day 3: Discover Ujjain
    5 minutes (1.6 km) from Mahakaleshwar Temple

    Start the day by visiting the Kal Bhairav Temple, dedicated to the fearsome form of Lord Shiva and known for its unique food offerings. In the afternoon, explore the Harsiddhi Temple, an important Shakthi Peeth and one of the 51 Shakti Peethas. End the day with a visit to the Chintaman Ganesh Temple, dedicated to the god of wisdom and learning.

  4. Day 4: Return to Indore
    1 hour 20 minutes (55.2 km) from Ujjain

    On the way back to Indore, stop by the Ralamandal Wildlife Sanctuary and enjoy a nature walk. In the afternoon, visit the Lal Bagh Palace, a beautiful 19th-century palace with stunning gardens and artifacts. End the day with a sunset view from the Annapurna Temple, one of the most popular temples in Indore.
