3-Day Family Friendly Itinerary for Ujjain Mahakaleshwar in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Mahakaleshwar Temple
    10 minutes (1.5 km) from Ujjain Junction Railway Station

    In the morning, start your day with a visit to the Mahakaleshwar Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas in India, where Lord Shiva is worshipped. In the afternoon, visit the Sandipani Ashram, where Lord Krishna is believed to have received his education from Guru Sandipani. This ashram also has a goshala (cow shelter), where you can spend time with cows and learn more about them. In the evening, stroll through the scenic and serene Siddhavat Park, which has a beautiful banyan tree and is believed to be a place of spiritual significance.

  3. Day 3: Mangalnath Temple and Vedh Shala Observatory
    15 minutes (4.5 km) from Sandipani Ashram

    In the morning, visit the Mangalnath Temple, dedicated to Lord Mars. It is believed that this temple is located at the birthplace of Mars, and it has a celestial significance in astrology and astronomy. Afterward, head to the Vedh Shala Observatory, an ancient observatory built by Maharaja Jai Singh II. Here, you can witness the various astronomical instruments used for measuring time and observing celestial bodies. In the evening, take a leisurely walk at the Harsiddhi Park, which has beautiful gardens, fountains, and an artificial lake.
