4-Day Leh (IXL), India Motorcycle Riding Itinerary in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Leh Palace
    10 minutes (2.5 km) from Leh Airport

    Start your motorcycle riding adventure by visiting the beautiful 17th-century Leh Palace, which was once the home of the royal family. Take in the panoramic views of Leh from the palace's rooftop and explore the museum showcasing traditional Ladakhi art and culture. Afterward, head to the nearby Leh Market to browse local handicrafts and souvenirs. In the evening, visit Shanti Stupa, an iconic Buddhist white-domed stupa perched on a hilltop. Enjoy the stunning sunset views over the Leh valley.

  2. Day 2: Spituk Monastery and Magnetic Hill
    1 hour (8.5 km) from Leh Palace

    In the morning, ride to the Spituk Monastery, a 15th-century monastery famous for its ancient collection of masks, thangkas, and antiques. Take a peaceful walk in the monastery's serene surroundings and enjoy the stunning views of the Indus Valley. Afterward, head to Magnetic Hill, a unique natural phenomenon where a vehicle appears to move uphill against gravity. In the afternoon, visit the beautiful Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, a Sikh place of worship built in the 16th century.

  3. Day 3: Nubra Valley
    5 hours (125 km) from Spituk Monastery

    Start early for a long ride to the breathtaking Nubra Valley, known for its stunning landscapes, sand dunes, and the famous double-humped camel rides. On your way, cross the Khardung La Pass, one of the highest motorable passes in the world. Stop at Diskit Monastery, the largest and oldest monastery in Nubra Valley, and explore its vast collection of ancient Buddhist art, artifacts, and manuscripts. In the evening, enjoy a peaceful walk along the banks of the Nubra River.

  4. Day 4: Pangong Tso Lake
    5 hours (150 km) from Nubra Valley

    On your last day, ride to the stunning Pangong Tso Lake, a beautiful high-altitude lake known for its ever-changing hues of blue. The lake, situated at an altitude of 4,350 meters, is shared between India and China. Take a walk along the banks of the lake and enjoy the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. On your way back to Leh, stop at Chang La Pass, the third-highest motorable pass in the world, and enjoy the stunning views of the Himalayan Range. In the evening, relax and unwind at any of Leh's local cafes or restaurants.

Recommendations

If you have extra time, consider visiting the Hemis Monastery, one of the largest and wealthiest monasteries in Ladakh, or the beautiful Tso Moriri Lake, situated in the Changthang region. A visit to the Kargil War Memorial and Museum is also highly recommended. To maximize your fun, consider hiring a local guide who can take you on motorcycle tours to remote villages and hidden valleys.
