The best way to travel around Kunming is via subway, bus or taxi. Both subway and bus are well-connected and cheap with fares starting from ¥2. Taxis are generally more expensive, starting from ¥10, but convenient if travelling with young children or seniors for comfort and accessibility. The estimated total transportation cost for four days is around ¥400.
If you have extra time, explore Dongchuan Red Land, a picturesque area of red fields and colorful flowers, about 3 hours away from Kunming. If you have less time, remove Yunnan Nationalities Village from the itinerary and spend more time at Haigeng Dam and Green Lake Park. Be sure to bring snacks and bottled water as they may not be readily available in some attractions.
Kunming Changshui International Airport (KMG) is the main airport serving Kunming City. Located 17 miles northeast of the city center, it has plenty of domestic and international flight options with direct flights to many major cities.
