3-Day Kerala Foodie Itinerary in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Kochi
    35 minutes (23.5 km) from Cochin International Airport

    In the morning, explore the city's spice markets and sample local snacks like appam, puttu, and dosa. In the afternoon, take a cooking class to learn how to make traditional dishes like fish molee and avial. In the evening, head to Fort Kochi to try fresh seafood at one of the many restaurants overlooking the water.

  2. Day 2: Alleppey
    1 hour 45 minutes (82.5 km) from Kochi

    In the morning, take a backwater tour on a traditional houseboat and enjoy a Keralan breakfast on board. In the afternoon, visit a local coir factory to see how coir products are made and pick up some souvenirs. In the evening, head back to the backwaters to enjoy a sunset dinner cruise.

  3. Day 3: Kozhikode
    3 hours 20 minutes (190 km) from Alleppey

    In the morning, enjoy a traditional Malabar breakfast of puttu and kadala curry. Visit the Kozhikode Beach to taste the famous Kozhikode Biriyani for lunch. In the afternoon, visit the Beypore Beach to witness the traditional boat making. In the evening, try the Kozhikode Halwa for dessert.

Recommendations

Other local attractions to consider are the Periyar National Park in Thekkady, the Athirapally Waterfalls, and the Chembra Peak trek. If you have more time, consider taking a trip to the tea plantations in Munnar or the beaches in Varkala. To maximize your fun, try the street food in each city and take a food tour to experience the local cuisine.
