Kedarnath and Chardham 7-Day Relaxation Itinerary - October 2024

  1. Day 1: Arrive in Dehradun
    20 minutes (16 miles) from Jolly Grant Airport

    Upon arrival, check-in to your hotel and take the day to relax and adjust to the altitude. Enjoy a spa treatment at the hotel in the afternoon and take a leisurely stroll in the evening around the hotel.

  2. Day 2: Drive to Rishikesh
    50 minutes (24 miles) from Dehradun

    Start your day with a sunrise yoga session at your hotel. After breakfast, drive to Rishikesh and visit the Beatles Ashram in the morning. In the afternoon, take a dip in the holy Ganges river and witness the Ganga Aarti ceremony in the evening.

  3. Day 3: Drive to Guptkashi
    7 hours (140 miles) from Rishikesh

    Leave early in the morning for Guptkashi, where you will stay for the next two nights. En route, stop at Devprayag, the confluence of the Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers. In the evening, take a walk around the town and visit the ancient Vishwanath Temple.

  4. Day 4: Visit Kedarnath Temple
    1.5 hours (30 miles) from Guptkashi

    Take a helicopter ride to Kedarnath Temple and spend the day exploring the temple and surrounding areas. In the evening, take a dip in the Tapt Kund hot springs and attend the evening aarti ceremony.

  5. Day 5: Drive to Badrinath
    8 hours (155 miles) from Guptkashi

    Start your day early and drive to Badrinath, stopping at Joshimath en route. Visit the Badrinath Temple in the afternoon and explore the town in the evening.

  6. Day 6: Visit Mana Village and Vasudhara Falls
    3 hours (9 miles) from Badrinath

    Drive to Mana Village, the last village on the India-China border, and explore the village and nearby attractions. Hike to the Vasudhara Falls in the afternoon, and return to Badrinath in the evening.

  7. Day 7: Return to Dehradun
    8 hours (190 miles) from Badrinath

    Start your day early and drive back to Dehradun, stopping at Rudraprayag and Devprayag en route. In the evening, take a stroll around Dehradun and visit the Forest Research Institute.

Recommendations

Consider visiting Hemkund Sahib, a popular Sikh pilgrimage site, on your way back from Badrinath to Dehradun. You can also try river rafting in Rishikesh or camping in the Himalayas if you have additional time. Make sure to eat local delicacies such as Kumaoni raita and phaanu. Don't forget to carry warm clothing as the temperature drops significantly in the evenings.
